Voting in local and national elections is a guaranteed right to citizens.

CSU encourages all students, faculty and staff to use their voices and vote.

To be eligible to vote in Colorado, people must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be 18 years old or older by Election Day (but people can register to vote as early as age 16)
  • Live in Colorado at least 22 days before Election Day

Our next Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.

CSU is a leader in the All-In Campus Democracy Challenge.

Fast Fact

You can register to vote online or update your registration and still receive a mail-in ballot up to eight days before the election in which you intend to vote. After that, you can register to vote or update your information at a voter service or polling center and vote in-person until 7 p.m. on Election Day when polls close.

CSU students vote

Students can vote in their college towns.

CSU students have a higher voting rate than their peers, with 76.4% of CSU students voting in the 2020 election, well over the national average of 66% of college students who voted across the nation.

In Colorado, all eligible registered voters automatically receive a mail-in ballot, if their registration information is available in time. This gives you the option to vote by mail, in person or by dropping your ballot in a ballot box.
